If women ruled the world

If women ruled the world, this is how things would be....

Things like cars would be marketed a little differently

A compact built into a computer mouse.

Men would have to get a mammogram equivalent on their sensitive parts.

The parking spots would accommodate their lack of car parking skills.

Things would be layed out a little more simply.
Explanations would be written out instead of having to be interpreted.

Gluten Free Eating

Most of you know that I have members of my family who have Celiac Disease. For those of you who don't know what that is, basically it is an intolerance to Gluten. Gluten is basically in White and Wheat Flour, as well as many other smaller things. If you can imagine, many things are restricted from their diets. I have found a couple of links of gluten free recipe websites. I have posted the links on the right hand side of my page. Hopefully this will be a great resource for my family. Good Luck!

Lap Time and the Library

Here are some pictures of us going to Lap Time at the Orem Library. My friend Becky and I went. Her little guy is so cute. I always forget how useful the library really is. I need to use it more often. The kids love going to the different reading times.

Kids Say the Darnest things...

I thought this tag was really cute. I asked all Emma all of these questions this afternoon. Here it goes...

Q: What does mommy always say to you?

A: No,No hitting! (Daddy says..."go in your room"

Q: What makes mommy happy?

A: A smile

Q: What makes mommy sad?

A: Make you happy is no no hitting (I have no clue what that means)

Q: What makes mommy laugh?

A: When Marcus laughs.

Q:How old is mommy?

A: Maybe 6. Then I was curious and asked how old is grandpa Lynn, and she said, ummm, maybe 20 minutes. ( How did I get older than grandpa Lynn)

Q:How Tall is Mommy?

A: Bigger

Q: What does mommy not like to do?

A:Make you happy

Q: What is mommy's job?

A: milk

Q: What is mommy's favorite food?

A: Pizza ( not really...thats just what we had for dinner)

Q:How do you know that mommy loves you?

A: A package

Q: What makes daddy happy?

A: Making mommy smile

Q: What is your favorite thing to do with dad?

A: Clean the dishes

Emma didnt like all of the questions. Each time she would say " I DONT KNOW!!!" and then I would have to reask her and she would answer more the next time. Any of you that have kids old enough for this, you should ask them. Some kids are really cute how they do it.

Girls Night

Last Night some of the neighborhood friends had a girls night. We have been planning for the last month and a half to go to a cooking school that Laura's mom works at. We were able to really pick any topic that we wanted. We did crock pot cooking. It was interesting and fun. The school is called The Wooden Spoon . It is American Fork. I really badly want to go back again. They even have a couples night were you go and learn how to cook and you get to enjoy the wonderful food at the same time. Thanks Laura for setting it up.

Shopping Sales.....love it

Old Navy was having a limited time sale on all of their summer stuff with an additional 50% off of everything clearance. I was able to get 1 dress, 4 shirts, 2 light jackets, for the kids for $20, and I bought the most expensive things that were on sale. I don't think that there was anything above $3.99. I love shopping sales. Thank goodness i have good friends that let me know when there are good sales (thanks tara). These are my two favorite items that I bought.

Wrong Video

I put up the wrong video...here is the one with the sting ray's.

Oh, and here is the link to The Living Planet Aquarium.

The Living Planet Aquarium

Today Emma, Marcus, my mother-in-law Sue and Myself went to the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy, UT. I know that it is not the best Aquarium in the world, and that is an understatement after being to the Monteray Aquarium, but my children have never been to an Aquarium before, and they loved it. It only took us about 45 minutes to get through the whole thing, but the highlights were the eels, the octopus, the sea horses (Emma's favorite), petting the sting rays and fish, and the SHARKS!, of coarse. Here is a video by the stingray tank where you can pet them. They are very squishy. I encourage any of you in Utah to take your kids, it was very cool and the season passes for a 2 adult 1 child family (2 and under is free) was only $39, Which was less than paying to go 2 seperate times.

Cute Socks

I know that this picture is a little blurry, but I thought this was so funny. The other day Emma put my socks on...doesn't it remind you of leg warmers. then when I was going out to the shed, she put her sandals on over those socks. It was really cute.

More Projects

I love this decoration idea. I think that I might try this one for my hall. I think that it would be so cute with some old frames from DI that you paint all the same color and then use a couple of different fabrics.

These are a couple of pictures of felt food. I really wanted to try to make Emma these felt foods for Christmas. I think that they are the cutest idea. Not to mention that I am hoping that Santa will bring this really cute kitchen from target to Emma for Christmas. I guess that I better start now if I want to get them done.

Flashback Friday. . . Happy Birthday Dad!

I think that this picture was taken on the weekend of my dad's wedding to Misty. My dad is the best dad ever. I don't think that he always gets the credit that he deserves, so in honor of him I am going to write my top ten favorite things about him.

1. My father has always been a spiritual strength in my life. I cannot imagine going through some of the things that he has had to go through and yet he comes out the other end of theses experiences stronger than ever.

2. My dad has always show me that his relationship with me was as important as all of his other children. I remember multiple times as a child coming home from school and finding a note on my bed asking me out on a 'daddy daughter' date. Even to this day he makes an attempt to keep in touch and offer advice and love as he sees fit.

3. Every time he comes to visit, I know that I will get a huge bear hug. It is the same hug that I have received all of my life from him. He wraps me up in his arms and sends chills through my body. You can fill the love radiate.

4. I feel like I have had the opportunity to learn many things that most women dont learn...and these things are things that I have learned from my dad. He is a self-learned handy-and-everything-else-MAN. I remember the summer after my sophmore year in college while I was living at home. He and I would work on the house in the early evening and then go see a new movie that just came out. It was such a fun summer to learn new things and get to know my dad better.

5. My dad is very protective and always looking for the best for his children (and he knows how to show it in a funny way). When Eric was going to ask my dad if he could marry me, my dad new it was coming (thanks to everyone in my family who cant keep a secret). He took us to dinner at Take 5 in Murray Utah and when we sat down Eric procceded to ask for permission. My dad stopped him mid sentence and pulled out and envalope of questions that my mom had wrote. My dad preceded to tell Eric that if he could answer more questions right than my dad could then he could marry me. Funny thing was that Eric beat him by one. Needless to say...Eric was 'allowed' to marry me.

6. My dad has a great sense of humor even at serious times. When Eric and I were getting sealed in the temple, my dad was bringing Erics ring from California and I wasnt going to see my dad before the ceremony. So, my dad was suppose to bring the ring into the temple for a ring exchange. I told the sealer that this was suppose to happen and when the sealer asked for the ring from my dad, my dad gave a serious, yet worried look. My heart skipped a beat for a moment but then I realized that my dad was trying to trick me. Anyways, it made for a great laugh and eased the mood a little.

7. My dad knows how to hide and jump out and scare anyone. I remember from the time I was little that he would hide when you werent expecting it and try and jump out and scare you. I always loved it. The funny thing is that Misty says that he still does this to Trace, Tashly, Teven and herself.

8. He is one good looking man...in high school, all of my friends had a crush on him. I guess it helps that he was young too.

9. My dad is a daredevil and wiling to do ANYTHING (I think) at least once. He would have been great at that sho FEAR OR NO FEAR.

10. He is still so young at heart. This can be proven from multiple things....hiking tall mountains, playing with my children on their level, cliff jumping at lake powel, trying to drive the jet ski close to the inflateable island and then abandoning the vehicle to jump and conquer.

I know that this was really long, but I dont know where to stop when it comes to my dad. He is an amazing dad and father.

I love you dad!! Happy Birthday!!

Memory Lane

I thought that this was a really cute idea (thanks Ellen)....

My favorite memories with Eric.....
This is probably the hardest to narrow down. I have so many wonderful memories with my husband. He is such a wonderful person. I think that some of my favorite memories were when we lived in Sugar house in 'the basement'. We were doing so many new things as a married couple...probably my favorite new thing that happened was when I found out I was pregnant with Emma. I remember taking multiple pregnancy test while Eric was around (all being negative). Then while Eric went out to a Jazz game, I decided to take another one, well that one was positive. I decided to call Eric cause I just couldnt wait. Well, he forgot his phone at home. So when he got home at about midnight, I was finally able to tell him, but since I had been asleep for a while, he thought that I was talking in my sleep. Finally after a couple of minutes of him questioning me to see if I was truly awake he believed me. That was such a fun time in our lives.

My favorite memory of Emma...
This one actually occured in our same basement apartment. When Emma was born she had a high bili count. We finally had to get a bili light to bring down her count. I remember having the hardest time sleeping with that bright light in our room, but it helped Emma get better, and that was all that mattered. She was so cute laying under that little light with her goggles. It was a little heart breaking at the time, but I love the memories.

My favorite memories of Marcus...
My favorite times (besides now) that I have had with marcus were when we were in the hospital. It was great to have some time for him and I at the hospital with no one else around. We definently bonded there. I love the feeling of not knowing how you can love someone as much as you do.
Another thing that happened in the hospital that was kind of funny happened while Eric was changing Marcus for the first time. I guess he wasnt use to changing a boy. When he had the diaper off, Marcus peed all over the paper work that was in his little hospital bassinet with him. Eric wasnt quite sure what to do. The nurse came in and helped him lay out all of the paperwork to dry. It was really funny.

NOW ITS YOUR TURN....
Think of your favorite memories of one or all of us and share them in our comments section. I am intersted to see what you all have to say and what you all remember about us.

Future Swimming Enthusiast

This video cracks me up. I was getting ready to workout the other night and while I was getting my swimming stuff out, Emma decided that she wanted to play with my cap and goggles. Then she ran around in the house pretending to swim. It was really cute. Oh, and the reason I wrote 'Future Swimming Enthusiast' is because I don't know if she will be a swimmer or not. Ever since she fell into the water this past year at practice, she has been afraid of going under water. I guess we will have to keep working on her.

Flashback Friday

Don't you love my dress....I think it was one of the first ones that my mom made for me. It was a great sewing job. Not the best fashion though. I guess in the 80's that was cool. My mom was always really good at braiding my hair and would braid flowers into it. I think this was on Easter in about 1989 or 1990. Oh, and dont miss the 'fro' bangs.

Marcus' Ears

It has been an interesting, worrisome and thought provoking couple of days. Yesterday morning I took Marcus to the doctor for his 9 month check up. I didnt really think anything of it. Right before I left I got my 9 month questionaire out of my files and filled it out. The questionaire has 5 different sections: communication, fine motor, gross motor, physical and Social. Each section has 6 questions that help you evaluate their development in each individual category. Everything seemed to be very normal except communication. Here are some examples of the questions that he failed...

1. Does your child say words like dada or gaga? (using constanants)

2. When you make a sound to your child, do they try and immitate the sound?

3. After playing pat-a-cake or hand clapping and then you ask your child to do the action without showing them what to do, can they do it by themself?

4. Does your child speak 3 or more words (they may not sound like words that you would say, but it is repetative each time they see something)

Those are the questions that I can remember.

So, after talking to the doctor about those issues, he decided to refer Marcus to get some hearing tests done. Today I took him down to the Speech and Hearing Center at UVRMC where he had 3 test done. The first one tested the nerves in the inner ear. His righ ear passed and his left ear failed. Then they put him in a room to see if he would find the sounds when they played them. He heard most of the sounds, but couldnt figure out what direction they were coming from. Then they did a tymphanogram which test the ear drum. That was flat in the left ear and curved in the right ear. So, the doctor decided by the testing that there is fluid behind his left ear drum.
That means that he has another ear infection! ARG! So we are headed to the Pediatricians office today. We will talk about getting tubes put in to solve the ear infections. Then in a couple of weeks when the ear infection clears, we will have all of the test redone to make sure that there is nothing permenantly done to his ears from all of the ear infections.
So, I have been very grateful for my perfect little son lately. I love him so much and I hope that we can figure out if anything is wrong. Hopefully the health of each of our family memebers with continue to escape problems.

Cute Things to Do

Here are a couple of pictures of projects that I have on my list of things to do.

I saw this on a site called Tip Junkie. It is probably one of my favorite sites. Anyways, this is a cute and cheap way to decorate your walls. Here is the tutorial website done by Eightcrazy.

Skip to my Lou has this great Tutorial on Crayon Rolls. I have to try that one...it is such a cute idea and would make a great present for small children.

I thought that these were really cute and might try them so I can show my sister for any future wedding that she might have. Wouldnt that be so cute and simple for a wedding center piece? You can find this and many other cute things at Sweet Paul.

Big Helper

First of all, thanks for all of your concern about Emma on the video....it seems like she is doing a little better. We are both surviving, so that is good news. Since the whole multiple screaming episodes, I have been trying to just keep her busy and more involved which doesnt give her time to think about screaming. Yesterday morning I was making omlets for breakfast when I realized how late it was and I went to wake Eric up. While I was away from the kitchen Emma found an egg and decided that she would try to crack it by herself. When I came back into the room, this is what I found. Not to self: Dont leave an 18 carton of eggs on the counter while leaving the room. I guess I should say that I am luck that only 1 egg was ruined and not all 18.

Camping

We went Camping on July 3rd-4th. We just went up to Hope Campground up by Squaw Peak. It was probably 30 minutes from our house, so not a bad drive, but we wanted to do something fun for the 4th. Here are some pictures from camping...

I dont know if you can tell or not, but Emma is looking at a deer (not far from her). I was washing my hands at the faucet on the right and this deer literally walked right up close to me. It freaked me out and I ran to get Eric and Emma to show them. Emma loved it.

Thank Goodness for this little pack n' play (thanks Laura for letting me barrow it). This was the only way that we were able to keep marcus from eating all of the dirt.

Me and the kids...dont I have cute kids.

Here is Marcus having fun playing with mom.

Flashback Sunday morning....

First of all...I have been so busy that my days and weeks have been running together. I didnt even realize until last night that it was July (even though I celebrated the 4th of July). I need to get on those beginning of the month bills....I totally spaced it. So, that is why this 'flashback friday is late'. Second of all....Happy late 4th of July. We had a great time. And third of all...this picture was taken during the summer ( I think it was the fourth of July) a long time ago. We were in Lake Tahoe and I guess I decided to give my dad one of those lovely model posses. How did I not get a modeling Job...JK! Anyway, dont you love those stick straingh bangs...love it!

Emma's Bad Behavior

Emma has been overreacting to everything lately. This time she was on timeout because she hit and then started screaming at me because I wouldnt let her play with soem easter stuff that she found that was in the pile of stuff that I needed to take out to the shed. Someone please help me......The last 3 days she has been doing this constantly, and I dont know what else to do. Nothing seems to help. I know that the video is dark, but you will get the idea of what she was doing on timeout. Did you see the spitting!!!AHHHHH, it agrivates me.
